School Closing Information
Our District staff understands that our decision to open or close schools in bad weather has a big effect on families. We also understand that our students are better served, both academically and socially, by being in school. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority in making a decision to keep schools open or to close schools in bad weather.
SCHOOL CLOSING INFORMATION:
When schools need to close, emergency procedures go into effect quickly. Parents should develop an emergency procedure for their children in the event of a school closing or other unexpected happening.
The superintendent will decide whether to close schools on a day of heavy snow or snowstorm forecast. School closing information is cablecast on West Bloomfield School District’s access channel WBTV-19 and broadcast on most local radio stations, including WJR-760 AM, WWJ-950 AM and on television channels 2, 4 or 7. Notices are broadcast to all parents via SchoolMessenger, posted on the district website (mcarelimited.com), and on the district's social media accounts. Please do not call the transportation office for closing information. In the event of school closing, the transportation staff is involved with closing procedures.
SCHOOL DAY CLOSINGS:
