WBSD Closed March 16 - April 13*

Per Governor Whitmer's March 23 Executive Order, the West Bloomfield School District will be closed through April 13. For more information, .

Dear West Bloomfield families,

As I am sure you are all aware, last night Governor Whitmer ordered the closure of all K-12 school buildings starting Monday, March 16 until Sunday, April 5. School buildings are scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 6. The Governor’s actions are an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Michigan.

Effective immediately, all of the West Bloomfield schools will be closed to comply with the Governor’s orders.

While the Governor’s actions seem sudden, they aren’t totally unexpected. In West Bloomfield, we are taking Friday, March 13 as a day to plan for our next steps during a Cloud Learning Contingency Planning Day in the event of a prolonged closure. Now that we will be closing, we truly appreciate the support of our families and staff as we used the day to prepare for our new reality. Look for a communication from the district later today (March 13)  with more information on our Cloud Learning plans.

Simultaneously, our operations, transportation, food service, and technology teams have been working diligently on how we will continue to serve our community. Plans are being implemented to provide access to technology and internet access for families so students are still able to complete assignments and engage in instruction. A district survey was sent out yesterday to gauge the technology needs of our families. Please by 3 p.m. today. We are also taking great care to ensure those students who rely on our food service department for nourishment, still, receive the same high quality and nutritious food offerings from our district.

We will continue to seek information and guidance from our local, state, and national officials as we move forward. Rest assured we will be keeping the lines of communication updated with information and resources for our families during this closure and beyond. Please continue to check our district website and your emails regularly for updates going forward.

Information around this outbreak is changing rapidly. The latest information is available at and .

We will navigate these uncharted waters the same way we approach all challenges in West Bloomfield, together. We are Team WB.

Be Well,

Dr. Gerald Hill
